TikTokers are practicing brain flossing for better mental health; know what it means

A new mental health trend is circulating on TikTok called brain flossing or brain massaging. The trend involves listening to 8D audio with your headphones on. 

8D audio is a supersonic illusion that causes each ear to hear tones at different frequencies. The sound is said to have a soothing effect on the brain. 

While there has been limited research on the health benefits of 8D audio, according to WebMD, the sound may help reduce anxiety and improve sleeping habits. It can also increase cognitive and creative enhancement. 

On TikTok, people with ADHD and other cognitive disorders say brain massaging helps decrease their anxieties and increase their ability to focus.

Hashtags #BrainFloss and #BrainMassage have garnered over 86.1 million views on the platform. 

To practice brain flossing, all you need to do is sit back, close your eyes and put your headphones on with 8D audio.
