What is Kapotasana and what are its benefits?

According to Manushreya Sharma, a yoga instructor, Kapotasana, or Pigeon Pose, is a deep back bending as well as hip opener asana. It is one of the most beneficial poses as it affects the three chakras, namely the heart, throat, and third eye chakra. However, this pose is not suitable for everyone. Before you perform this asana make sure people with lower back, hip, or knee issues perform this with more caution.

What are the health benefits of Kapotasana?

This yoga pose helps increase flexibility and relieves tension. This posture also stimulates the abdominal organs, potentially enhancing digestion. It also enhances blood circulation and helps improve posture. The Kapotasana pose also improves posture and strengthens muscles. It also helps the spine align.

The yoga instructor also said that the pose is not suitable for pregnant woman, “This posture should not be done by pregnant women as it exerts pressure on the abdomen and can be painful, especially in the second and third trimesters. It should also be avoided by those with high blood pressure or heart issues because it can strain the cardiovascular system."
