Cold wave has gripped Delhi. Be it the fog conditions or the freezing cold, Delhi-NCR is fighting the severe cold wave. Amidst this, the number of Covid and H1N1 cases has also been on the rise. Elderly and co-morbid people are more prone to catching swine flu. Wondering what are the symptoms and how can you prevent from catching this disease? Read on!

Symptoms of H1N1

H1N1 is a subtype of the influenza A virus. Key symptoms are high fever, sore or scratchy throat, runny nose, fatigue, body ache, and chills. Despite the similarity in flu symptoms, COVID-19 tests are routinely conducted for inpatients in most hospitals throughout Delhi-NCR.

Prevention and Cure

Doctors have reported 12-15 flu cases daily and the numbers are on the rise. To be safe amid the H1N1 flu wave, keep these few points in mind:

  • Vaccination: Getting vaccinated is one of the most effective ways to prevent H1N1 infection.
  • Maintain Hygiene: Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing, using the bathroom, or touching surfaces in public places.
  • Cover mouth while sneezing: Avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose, and mouth, as this can introduce the virus into your body.
  • Clean and disinfect: Regularly clean and disinfect frequently-touched surfaces, such as doorknobs, light switches, and electronic devices.

Also watch: Coughing or sneezing on your phone could soon help detect Covid-19
