Charlie Chaplin once said “I always like walking in the rain, so no one can see me crying.”
Some people hide their tears in rains and some behind their smiles. It’s true that some common symptoms of depression are being sad but some people hide their pain and problems by always being happy and constantly keep smiling. They might be at a risk of 'smiling depression'.
Smiling depression is not a clinical diagnosis and according to experts, people who hide their true emotions behind happy faces, suffer from a typical kind of depression called major depressive disorder and don’t show typical symptoms of depression.
According to experts, symptoms of smiling depression are feeling sad, low self-esteem, dizziness, changes in sleep pattern, daily activities, lifestyle and losing interest in things people love doing. Doctors often recommend medicines, therapy and lifestyle changes in case of smiling depression.
