According to a joint report by FAO, IFAD, UNICEF, WEP and WHO, 74.1 per cent of the Indian population, i.e. 3 in every 4 Indians cannot afford healthy food.
Poverty is the main issue of malnutrition in most Indian households. While 42.1 per cent of the global population cannot afford healthy food, which means that more than 100 crore people in India are bound to eat food with insufficient nutrition.
The unaffordability of nutritious food is an increasing concern that's causing malnutrition in India. While the global population stands at 9.2 per cent and China's at 2.5 per cent, India's 16.6 per cent population is undernourished.
