As the new Parliament building is all set to hold its first session next week, several changes have come to light, including a new uniform for employees of both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. Individuals engaged in legislative duties will be given cream-coloured jackets paired with cream shirts adorned with a pink lotus prints and khaki trousers. This uniform code will be standardized for employees working in both Houses. Marshals will wear Manipuri turbans.

The 271 staff members, such as chamber attendants and those responsible for verbatim reporting service, have received their new uniforms. According to officials, security officers from the Parliament Security Service (Operations) will now wear army camouflage outfits instead of the blue safari suits they used to wear.

The new uniform is designed by the National Institute of Fashion Technology and the uniform is gender neutral.

The new building is going to be operational from September 19, which falls on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.
