In the recent past, fashion has been all about the Y2K trend and amidst that babydoll dresses have marked their comeback.
Recently, at the spring 2023 runway shows, babydoll dresses ruled the ramps and were all about lacey, tiny, and free-flowing silhouettes. Notably, babydoll dresses have a close association with lingerie.
Sarah Collins, professor and fashion historian at the Savannah College of Art and Design said that the origin of the babydoll dress is unknown but the term was introduced in the 1912 novel Captain Martha Mary by Avery Abbott.
