With each passing day, new dating trends pop by. Some are cute but others are scary. Talking of scary dating trends, ghosting and gaslighting top the list. And imagine a hideous mix of both of these trends. Well, this does exist and is called 'ghostlighting'.

What is ghostlighting?

For those unaware, ghosting is when a person ends communication abruptly with their respective partner. Whereas, gaslighting is manipulating someone by questioning their sanity.

Thus, ghostlighting, is when a person makes the victim of it feel that they got ghosted because they were at fault.

Ghostlighting is different from getting zombied, which is when someone who previously ghosted you comes back for another try after a few months. During colder months, this behaviour is sometimes called winter coating, where an ex-partner reappears just for the cozy season but ends the relationship once spring arrives.

However, these dating trends are distinct from the newer and more concerning trend called ghostlighting. Experts say that ghostlighters use manipulation tactics to deceive and hurt others.
