The Supreme Court has rejected the government's notion that a person's gender can be solely determined by their genitals, emphasizing that there is no definitive definition of a man or woman and that gender is a far more intricate concept than mere anatomical characteristics. However, there is still confusion among people about the acronyms LGBTQIA+, so let's understand what they stand for and what they mean.

L: This stands for lesbian, which means a woman who is sexually, romantically or emotionally attracted to other women.

G: This stands for Gay and it stands for a man who is attracted to men or it can also be used for people who are attracted to the similar genders as theirs.

B: This stands for Bisexual. It is used for people who are attracted to more than one gender.

T: This stands for transgender. This is used for people whose gender identity or expressions are different from the cultural expectations.

Q: This has two meanings, one is queer and the other is questioning. Queer is used for people who do not identify as straight or have any specific gender-fluid identities. It can also be used as questioning and is used by people who are questioning their identity.

Notably, in the acronym LGBTQIA+, the meaning of LGBTQ is the same, so let's know what IA+ stands for

I: This stands for Intersex and is used for people who are born with differences in their sex traits and reproductive anatomy.

A: This stands for Asexual and it is used for people who lack sexual interest in others

+: This symbol stands for several other sexual identities and orientations.
