L'Oreal, the world's biggest cosmetics company, has joined the legion of beauty brands moving towards a new era of inclusivity. The beauty giant has decided to remove words like 'whitening', 'fair' and 'light' from its range of skincare products. L'Oreal Group owns over 500 global brands including Maybelline and Lancome.

The move follows a similar decision by Unilever to re-brand its decades-old 'Fair & Lovely' cream, in the face of growing social media criticism. Unilever's rival Johnson & Johnson also said this month that it would stop the sale of skin-whitening creams.
