Russian opposition leader and Putin critic Alexei Navalny who is on a hunger strike in prison could have a cardiac arrest any minute due to his worsening health, his doctors warned on Saturday. 44-year-old Navalny went on a hunger strike on March 31 to demand proper treatment for back pain and numbness in his hands and legs.

His personal doctor and three other doctors have asked prison officials to grant them immediate access to Navalny pointing to his high potassium levels and said that he should be moved to ICU.

The doctors said he needs to be examined immediately "taking into account the blood tests and his recent poisoning".
