It was in September 1995 when the first underground metro station, MG Road, was inaugurated on the North-South line in Kolkata.

25 years later, the city is now set to welcome another underground metro station on the East-West line as the route gets extended till Phoolbagan.

The first train from Phoolbagan station will be flagged off by Railway Minister Piyush Goyal through a video link on Sunday. Commercial services begin on Monday.
