With their backs against the wall, Punjab Kings produced one of their finest displays of IPL 2021 as they stunned the defending champions Mumbai Indians by 9 wickets in a low scoring game in Chennai. Batting first, Mumbai were powered by captain Rohit Sharma's fifty posted 131/6 from their 20 overs. The lower order couldn't really fire as Mohd Shami and Ravi Bishnoi picked up 2 wickets each. In reply, Punjab Kings were off to a slow start but always kept themselves in the chase. After losing Mayank Agarwal early, skipper KL Rahul motored on along with the experienced Chris Gayle. While Gayle scored an unbeaten 43, KL Rahul smashed 60 off 52 balls to guide his team home with 9 wickets to spare. 2nd win for Punjab Kings and 3rd loss for Mumbai Indians in 5 games each this season.
