Kerala has become the first state to move a resolution against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act. CM Pinarayi Vijyan moved a resolution demanding withdrawal of CAA in the state Assembly. Vijayan also declared that there will be no detention centres in Kerala. The lone BJP MLA in the state O Rajagopal is reportedly the only person opposing it. A number of states ruled by opposition, including Punjab, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal, have said that they will not implement CAA or NRC.
