A doctor couple in Kerala, Dr. Regi Jose and Dr Paul Augustine along with some others developed a tool that may be able to assess the risk of breast cancer in a woman.
The risk calculator works by providing a score when the person answers a list of 7 questions. It may help women determine the frequency and kind of medical screening they need in order to get diagnosed in time.
To develop the calculator, they used statistical modelling. The calculator takes into account factors like age, history of breast feeding, age at menarche among other parameters.
