Australia head coach Justin Langer has backed former skipper Tim Paine, who took an indefinite break from cricket over mental health concerns. Langer questioned the society for being brutal and added that it is an unforgiving society, which is a real shame.

According to media reports, Langer made a secret visit to Paine's home ahead of the first Ashes Test.

Langer said that Tim Paine has made a mistake and paid a heavy price for it.

Paine resigned from the captaincy after the sexting scandal was resurfaced and subsequently took an indefinite break from cricket over mental health concerns as he has been facing a constant backlash from society.
