Japan's coronavirus case count crossed the 1 lakh mark on Friday, nine months after the first case found in mid-January. With 808 new cases on Thursday, Japan's coronavirus tally stands at 1,00,334, including 712 people who were on a cruise ship, Diamond Princess, that was docked off a Japanese port earlier this year.
About one-third of the cases come from Tokyo, where 221 cases were confirmed Thursday, bringing the total of the capital to 30,677, with 453 deaths.
Nationwide, Japan has recorded more than 1,700 fatalities.
