After years of planning and many failed starts, the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has approved a standard set of operating procedures (SOPs) to rejuvenate waterbodies in the national capital. 30 to 50 waterbodies of similar parameters will be clubbed under one package and bids will be floated for the projects before beginning execution. The government’s City of Lakes project is an ambitious but a delayed one. The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) had back in 2018 approved a budget of Rs 376 crore for the project. It also set aside Rs 77 crore for the construction of two ‘mega lake’ projects in Rohini and Nilothi.
