The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday carried out raids at multiple locations in 14 districts of J&K linked to banned outfit Jamaat-e-Islami in connection with a terror funding case.
The Home Ministry banned the religious outfit for 5 years in February 2019 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act on the ground that it was ‘in close touch’ with militants and was expected to ‘escalate secessionist movement’.

The NIA conducted the raids to check the resurgence of Jamaat-e-Islami activities despite the ban
Jamaat-e-Islami was reportedly looking to fund terror outfits such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Hizbul Mujahideen. According to sources, money was being routed via Dubai and Turkey for funding terror activities with the help of Pakistan's secret intelligence service ISI.
