Amid a surge in Covid-19 cases, the Italian govt has announced new and stricter measures in the country aimed at halting the spread of the contagion.
Under the new rules, mayors will have the power to close public squares and other places of gathering after 9pm, permitting access only to reach homes or businesses. Apart from that, restaurants and bars will be restricted to table service only after 6pm, with a limitation of six people in a group.
Italy will push more distance learning, and chances are that high schools would shift their timings and start the school day after 9am.
Further, local festivals have been banned. Gyms and public swimming pools may remain open – but they would be closed in a week if they do not follow the measures meticulously.
