India's external affairs ministry on Thursday said that holding further meetings with the Taliban is not a simple matter of yes or no. Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi told reporters that India's aim is that Afghanistan's land shouldn't be used for terror activity of any kind.
On being asked about the details of the meeting between Indian envoy Deepak Mittal and top Taliban leader Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai on Tuesday, Baghchi said that he has no update on the meeting.
The ministry spokesperson also informed the reporters that evacuation operations will be able to resume only once the Kabul airport starts functioning. Most Indians have been evacuated from Afghanistan, he added.
