Over 150 Palestinians were injured after Israeli police attacked worshippers at the Al-Aqsa mosque compound on Friday night. The mosque is a major holy site sacred to Muslims and Jews. The incident marked an escalation of violence between the Palestinians and Israelis that has gone on for two weeks.
The Palestinian Red Crescent emergency service said dozens of people were wounded in clashes with police at the mosque and elsewhere in Jerusalem, including 83 who were hospitalized.
It said most were wounded in the face and eyes by rubber-coated bullets and shrapnel from stun grenades.
Israel said six police officers were wounded.
