The mega auctions before the upcoming edition Indian Premier League are likely to take place on Feb 7th and 8th in Bengaluru, a senior BCCI official informed on Wednesday.

He said that unless the Covid-19 situation worsens, the 2-day IPL mega auctions will be held on Feb 7th and 8th. With the addition of 2 new franchises, the Lucknow team and the Ahmedabad team, this year's IPL will be a 10-team event. While Sanjiv Goenka owns the Lucknow team, Ahmedabad belongs to CVC and both teams have time to announce their 3 draft picks by Christmas.

This might also be the last mega auction that would take place, as most franchises feel that the mega auctions have passed their sell-by date and a team's composition gets severely compromised when there are auctions after every 3 years.
