Sent in to bat first, Rohit Sharma’s side quickly fell in Delhi’s trap and could only post 129 runs in 20 overs. Delhi’s Avesh Khan and Axar Patel were the top performers of the first innings. While Axar Patel and Khan both took 3 crucial wickets for their side, Khan gave away just 15 runs. Surya Kumar Yadav scored 33 off 26, the maximum for MI.

In return, Mumbai got some respite because of the bowling side. But their valorous efforts did not deter Pant’s men from securing a win. While Pant and Iyer stabilised the game for Capitals,  Ashwin too contributed with the bat as they together helped Delhi register a steady win.
