According to a report in the Indian Express, the Taliban has warned the Afghanistan media outlets to not broadcast the UAE leg of IPL 2021 due to the presence of female audiences and spectators in stadiums.

Though the Taliban has shown they do not mind men playing cricket, they have banned most forms of entertainment and women have been completely banned from playing sport. The IPL opened its gates to limited spectators this time around but presence of female fans hasn't gone down well with the Taliban. Top Afghanistan cricketers like Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi and Mujeeb ur Rahman are taking part in IPL 2021.

Moreover, The Taliban also sacked the executive director of Afghanistan Cricket Board, Hamid Shinwari and replaced him with Naseebullah Haqqani, who is the younger brother of the Taliban's new Interior Minister.
