To improve the lives of inmates, serving their punishments at the Lajpore jail in Surat, authorities have been teaching them new skills.

The prisoners are now polishing and cutting diamonds. They manage to earn 8000 to 12000 rupees a month to support their families.

After being trained to develop the skill, almost 45 prisoners are now involved in the task.
