According to market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC), the Indian wearables market showed 144.3 percent year-on-year growth in 2020, making India the only country in the top 20 to show triple digit growth. The company counts smartwatches, wristbands, and earphones in this category, with truly wireless earphones accounting for 83.6 percent of the wearables market, growing by 11.3 million shipments in 2020. Wristband shipments declined last year, as smart watches became more popular and more affordable. IDC reports that Xiaomi remains the most popular wristband brand in India, while Apple remains king of the smartwatch segment. Popular audio company boAt leads both the wireless headphone and truly wireless earphone segments.
