Indian govt to audit WhatsApp security system after hacking attempt

IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the government plans to conduct an audit of WhatsApp’s security systems following a spyware attack that exploited vulnerabilities of the facebook-owned messaging service. However, he didn’t respond to questions whether the government had bought Pegasus, a spyware from Isreali firm NSO, responsible for breaking into the phones of over 1,400 WhatsApp users, including 121 Indian journalists and activists.
