Indian pacers started their tour of England with a bang as they dismissed the hosts for just 183 on Day 1 of 1st Test in Nottingham. Jasprit Bumrah was the wrecker in chief as he picked up 4 wickets including the one of opener Rory Burns on the 5th ball of the day. Despite the questionable decision of dropping Ravichandran Ashwin against Ravinder Jadeja, Virat Kohli had everything going for him including a few DRS calls.

Joe Root scored a fluently fifty for the hosts which was probably the only bright spark for England on day 1. Mohd Shami was relentless and took 3 wickets as Shardul Thakur took 2 & Mohd Siraj picked up 1 scalp.  England were bowled out for just 183 with 1 hour to go in the final session as Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul managed to bat through without losing any wicket. India ended Day 1 at 21 for no loss, still trailing by 162 runs.
