Thane, August 13 (PTI) – An unidentified woman tragically ended her life by jumping into a creek from a bridge in Thane city, Maharashtra, according to officials.

The incident occurred at approximately 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

The woman leapt into the creek from the old Kalwa bridge, which is situated near a biodiversity park, as reported by Yasin Tadvi, chief of Thane Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell.

Upon receiving the alert, personnel from the local police, fire department, and disaster management cell promptly arrived at the scene.

The woman sustained severe injuries after landing on rocks in the creek and was subsequently retrieved and rushed to a hospital, where she was declared deceased.

An investigation is underway to identify the woman and determine the circumstances leading to the incident.
