Umaria, Madhya Pradesh - A tragic incident unfolded at the renowned Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, as a 40-year-old woman was fatally attacked by a tiger in the buffer zone, as reported on Friday. This unfortunate event occurred in Rakhi village, which lies approximately 1.5 kilometers from the core boundary of the tiger reserve, according to Manpur Forest Ranger Mukesh Ahirwar. The victim, Gulli Bai Yadav, was attacked by the big cat near a drain close to her residence, resulting in her instantaneous death.

Upon receiving the alert, forest and police officials promptly arrived at the scene and arranged for the transfer of the deceased's body to the Manpur Community Health Centre, where an autopsy will be conducted. Immediate financial assistance amounting to Rs 10,000 was extended to Yadav's family, with assurances of additional compensation to be disbursed later in accordance with government norms, added the official.
