Who is Nayab Singh Saini, the new chief minister of Haryana?

Nayab Singh Saini, 53, became the new chief minister of Haryana after the former CM Manohar Lal Khattar resigned from the post on March 12.  

Who is Nayab Singh Saini? 

Born in a village of Mizapur Majra in Ambala on January 25, 1970, Saini hails from the OBC community and is an MP from Kurukshetra. He was appointed as state president of Haryana BJP in October 2023.  

Saini joined BJP in 1996 working alongside the state general secretary until 2000. In 2002, he took the role of district general secretary of the BJP Youth Wing in Ambala and later was appointment as the district president in Ambala in 2005. 
 
In 2009, Saini’s dedication to the party led him to the position of the state general secretary of the BJP Kisan Morcha in Haryana. He was also chosen as district president of Ambala BJP in 2012. 
 
Saini became an MLA for the first time in 2014 and was elected as a state minister in 2016. He was also considered a close companion of Manohar Lal Khattar.
