Former Indian cricketer and TMC Lok Sabha candidate Yusuf Pathan broke down during an interview with Editorji when he was asked how he felt as people, mostly women from his constitution contributed money for his election campaign.

Pathan who was seen as very tough challenger on a cricket field, couldn't hold his tears and had an emotional meltdown after seeing women from the Baharampur seat in Murshidabad district voluntarily contribute money.

Pathan said, "It is very hard for me, In a cricket match I had to perform for a team, now a lot of people have associated their hopes with me and I fear that what if I couldn't perform up to their expectations."

While Pathan is hopeful of winning the Baharampur seat, he at the same time is nervous given the seriousness and 'the emotional responsibility the candidacy had brought upon him'.

Pathan, while referring to TMC chief, Mamata Banerjee said that she has put him in a tough spot by announcing him as a candidate from her party.

"I was sure that I would win the election, but today after seeing so many women coming forward and contributing their savings for my campaign made me realise how much faith they have put in me and that I have to work for them. However, I fear about not being able to repay my people back," Pathan added.

Yusuf Pathan is contesting against Congress' five-time MP, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury. The BJP has fielded Nirmal Chandra Saha from the Baharampur seat.

Many experts believe that TMC has tactically fielded Pathan from the Muslim-dominated Baharampur constituency. Amid incumbency and the Muslim factor in the constituency, it is believed Yusuf Pathan is going to give a tough battle to the Congress stalwart Choudhary.
