Karnataka's Lingayat community on Thursday carried out padyatra demanding more reservation.
The Panchamasali activists have been demanding a share of 15% quota given to Other Backward Communities (OBCs) instead of the separate 5% reservation already allotted to them.
Hundreds of Panchamasali activists marched to the state assembly in Belagavi where the Karnataka cabinet may take a decision on demand for higher reservation.

The move is significant ahead of assembly polls by April-May next year, as Panchamasali Lingayats, a sub-sect of the dominant Veerashaiva-Lingayat community, are considered to be BJP's core voter base.
