Bengaluru witnessed a rare celestial event called 'Zero Shadow Day' or 'No Shadow Day' on August 18.

At 12.24 pm, shadows disappeared in the city as the Sun was positioned directly overhead, casting no shadow for any vertical object.

Schools, colleges and scientific institutions had organised special events to practically demonstrate the 'disappearance of shadows'

Images posted on social media show students standing in a circle with little to no shadow being cast on the ground. Some images also showed teachers conducting experiments showing how there were no shadows of rods or sticks.
