New Delhi, Sep 2 (PTI) — Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has made a move from the Vice President's Enclave to a private residence as of Monday, as confirmed by officials. Over two dozen advocates, primarily from the Akhil Bhartiya Adhivakta Parishad, were present to accompany Dhankhar to his temporary residence in South Delhi. He is staying at a farmhouse in Chhatarpur owned by INLD leader Abhay Chautala until he receives a designated bungalow granted to him as an entitlement of his former position.
Dhankhar had previously resigned from his role on July 21, the first day of the Monsoon session, citing health-related reasons, and has since maintained a low public profile. Up until recently, he was residing at the official Vice President's Enclave, located near Parliament House.
The election to determine his successor is set for September 9. In this upcoming vice-presidential election, NDA’s candidate, C P Radhakrishnan, who is the current governor of Maharashtra, will compete against the opposition's choice, B Sudershan Reddy, a former Supreme Court judge. It's noteworthy that Dhankhar's term as Vice President was initially slated to conclude on August 10, 2027.
