Chennai, Aug 13 (PTI) — In a significant political development, former Member of Parliament V Maitreyan has departed from the AIADMK and has now aligned himself with the ruling DMK. This transition took place on Wednesday in the presence of Chief Minister MK Stalin.

Following this move, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami acted swiftly to expel Maitreyan from the party.

At the DMK headquarters, the 'Anna Arivalayam' in Chennai, Maitreyan, who formerly served as the AIADMK's organization secretary, was welcomed into the DMK.
