Uttarkashi tunnel rescue: families celebrate as workers undergo medical check-up

It was Diwali for the families of the workers who were rescued from the collapsed Uttarkashi tunnel after 17 days.

The families burst firecrackers, distributed sweets and thanked the government for bringing their loved ones back.

Meanwhile, medical check-up of the workers was done at Chinyalisaur Community Health Centre in Uttarakhand.

Of the 41 men, 15 are from Jharkhand, two from Uttarakhand, five from Bihar, three from West Bengal, eight from Uttar Pradesh, five from Odisha, two from Assam and one from Himachal Pradesh.

The workers interacted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and narrated the tale of their survival.
