Some of the workers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi got a chance to send messages to their families for the first time in 10 days.
The rescue team managed to establish communication with the trapped workers through a 6-inch pipeline on Tuesday.
Jaidev, one of the trapped workers, told his supervisor through the communication pipe to record what he was saying because he wanted to send a message to his mother.
The worker spoke in Bengali and said 'Maa, tension koroni aami thik achi. Time a kheye nebe. Babakeo time a kheye nite bolbe (Maa, don't worry, I am fine. Please make sure you eat on time and ask Dad to do the same.)"
Other workers also talked to their families, staying calm and brave while telling them not to worry.
Rescuers used a camera to see inside the tunnel, confirming that there is space for movement. They spoke to the workers through the pipeline, asking them to clean the camera lens. The workers were told to move away as the pipeline would be cleaned with water and air.
