As the rescue operation at the Uttarkashi tunnel collapse site entered the fourth day, a protest by workers broke out. Visuals showed police officials trying to control the situation.

As many as 40 workers remain trapped despite continued efforts by NDRF and SDRF personnel.

The evacuation process suffered a setback after a landslide struck the area. The rescue personnel are trying to insert large pipes by drilling through the debris in order to create an escape passage for the trapped workers.

Officials said earlier that the workers are safe and being provided with oxygen, water, food packets and medicines through tubes.
