Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken two significant and innovative steps in the fields of education and environmental conservation in the state.

The Chief Minister has directed that in every district of the state, meritorious toppers of high school and intermediate examinations will be given the opportunity to serve as symbolic Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP) for one day.

The objective of this inspirational programme is to provide administrative experience to outstanding students, boost their confidence, and motivate them to aim higher. This scheme will be implemented in districts soon, with a detailed action plan being prepared.

Alongside this, the Chief Minister has also instructed that “River Festivals” be organized. These festivals, named after the state’s major rivers, will be held with active public participation. The goal of this initiative is to promote cleanliness, rejuvenation, and conservation of rivers, turning it into a public movement.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the rivers of the state are not just water sources, but are also an integral part of our culture and lifestyle. Through the “River Festivals,” the general public will be made aware of the importance of water conservation and cleanliness.

This initiative by the Dhami government is not only a commendable step toward honouring meritorious students but also a strong effort in the direction of environmental protection.
