Nainital, Sep 4 (PTI) In a pivotal move, the Uttarakhand High Court has instructed the Haridwar police to ensure the safety of a family whose member unveiled "irregularities" by a previous Manglaur Municipality chairman in 2018.
Manglaur's Mohammad Safi, who petitioned the court, expressed that he has been under persistent death threats, casting a shadow of fear over his family's safety.
The case was diligently reviewed by a division bench comprising Chief Justice G Narendra and Justice Subhash Upadhyay.
The petition elaborated on the alleged misuse of governmental funds and numerous "irregularities" by the former municipal chairman back in 2018.
Following Safi's exposure of these "irregularities," the officer faced disqualification from future elections.
Safi has asserted that since revealing such widespread corruption, both he and his family have been threatened.
The high court had previously mandated security measures for him in 2018.
The petitioner emphasized his role in unveiling extensive corruption within the municipality, which has led to a continuous threat against him and his family.
