Ration card holders to now get free millet along with wheat and rice: UP minister

Ration card holders in Uttar Pradesh will now receive free millet along with wheat and rice. Currently all ration card holders get 35 kilograms of grains every month, which includes 14 kilograms of wheat and 21 kilograms of rice. 

Speaking to Aaj Tak, UP Minister of Food and Logistics, Satish Sharma, stated that the government's intention is to promote 'Shri Ann'.

The government is purchasing grains from farmers at increased prices under the Minimum Support Price. 

The UP Food Department has issued orders regarding this.
