Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Varanasi on August 2 to unveil a major financial boost for farmers ahead of Raksha Bandhan.

According to an official release, PM Modi will release the 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, transferring over ₹20,500 crore directly into the bank accounts of 9.7 crore eligible farmers across the country.

Uttar Pradesh will be among the biggest beneficiaries, with more than 2.3 crore farmers set to receive ₹4,600 crore. In Varanasi district alone, ₹48 crore will be transferred to 2.21 lakh farmers.

Under the PM-KISAN scheme, eligible landholding farmer families receive ₹6,000 per year in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to small and marginal farmers.

As part of his visit, Prime Minister Modi will address a public meeting at Banouli village in Sevapuri block. At the same venue, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 52 development projects worth ₹2,183.45 crore.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport at around 10:30 a.m., where he will be received by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other dignitaries. His public address is expected to begin around 11:00 a.m.

In addition to the PM-KISAN release, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate a range of development projects spanning infrastructure, education, healthcare, tourism, urban development, and cultural heritage. These initiatives are part of the broader plan for holistic urban transformation and improved quality of life in Varanasi.

In keeping with his commitment to enhancing road connectivity in the region, PM Modi will inaugurate and launch key infrastructure projects. These include the widening and strengthening of the Varanasi–Bhadohi road, the Chhitauni–Shool Tankeshwar road, and the Railway Overbridge at Hardattpur, aimed at easing congestion on the Mohan Sarai–Adalpura road.
