Once overlooked by investors, Gorakhpur is now attracting major national and global companies, backed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s policy push and improved infrastructure.

According to a state government release, the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) has allotted 182 acres of land for 54 units in the current financial year. This is expected to bring investments worth Rs 5,800 crore and create 8,500 jobs. Over the past five years, GIDA has received proposals worth Rs 9,445 crore, generating nearly 23,000 employment opportunities.

Big names such as PepsiCo, Keyan Distillery, Gyan Dairy, Technoplast, Central Warehousing Corporation, Kapila Agro Industry, and APL Apollo Tubes have already set up operations. Recently, Adani Group’s Ambuja Cement and Coca-Cola bottler Amrit Bottlers acquired land for new projects, while Reliance Consumer Products Limited and Shree Cements are exploring investment options.

To meet rising demand, GIDA is developing Dhuriapar Industrial Township in southern Gorakhpur, where two projects have already been allotted land. “Under the Chief Minister's guidance, Gorakhpur has built a strong ecosystem for investment. Land is being provided as per investor preference, and industrial interest is rising steadily,” said Anuj Malik, CEO of GIDA.

Improved road, rail, and air connectivity has also strengthened the city’s appeal. Once hesitant to attract even local investors, Gorakhpur is now positioning itself prominently on India’s industrial map.

For FY 2025-26, major investment plans include Rs 2,667 crore by Shreyash Distilleries, Rs 1,400 crore by Ambuja Cement, Rs 800 crore by Amrit Bottlers, and Rs 600 crore by Keyan Distilleries. In the pharma sector, Vision Parental has proposed Rs 100 crore.

Reliance CPL is expected to invest Rs 1,000 crore, Shree Cements and Lifecare Hospitals Rs 500 crore each, ESIC Rs 150 crore, and Delhi Public School Rs 50 crore. Officials said the new proposals reflect rising confidence from both industrial and healthcare sectors in Gorakhpur.
