CM Yogi pushes digital and infrastructure reforms in UP schools

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday reflected on the efforts made during the Covid-19 pandemic to ensure continuity in education, highlighting how the government had integrated virtual learning into schools at that time. 

He was speaking at an event in Lucknow where he inaugurated newly constructed buildings and additional dormitories for 139 upgraded Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas.

In addition to the inaugurations, CM Yogi laid the foundation stones for 43 Chief Minister Model Composite Schools and 66 Chief Minister Abhyudaya Composite Schools. He also noted that summer camps are currently being held in all government schools across the state, calling it an innovative initiative.

“During Covid, we connected schools with virtual education. Now technology has advanced a lot, so it is very helpful... Similarly, summer camps in all government schools is a new effort, it is an innovation," CM Yogi said.

He further mentioned that during the NDA Chief Ministers’ conclave held in New Delhi on Sunday, he presented the steps taken by the Uttar Pradesh government to rejuvenate rundown schools in the state. “Yesterday, a meeting of Chief Ministers was held in Delhi, the Deputy Chief Minister was also present in it, we gave a presentation on the steps we have taken to revive dilapidated schools in Uttar Pradesh, this has changed the lives of lakhs of children, thousands of people have got employment due to this,” he stated.

Highlighting the state’s digital education efforts, CM Yogi shared that smart classes have been introduced in 7,409 schools, RCT (Resource Centre for Technology) labs have been set up in 5,228 schools, and 51,667 teachers were connected through a tablet distribution program conducted on Monday.

“Smart classes in 7409 schools, RCT labs in 5228 schools, 51667 teachers were connected with the tablet distribution program today. Digital library in 503 PM Shri schools. You must have seen what a model it is and how we can reach the curriculum of good teachers to other places in a systematic way,” he said.
