A 13-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh's Basti showed incredible presence of mind to protect her 15-month-old niece from a monkey attack.

The incident occurred when some monkeys entered their home and went on a rampage. The toddler who was present in the house could have been the target of the monkeys.

Fearing this, the young girl Nikita asked Alexa to play the sound of a dog's bark. Alexa did as instructed and that scared the monkeys away.

"A few guests visited our home and they left the gate open. Monkeys entered the kitchen and started throwing things here and there. The kid was scared and so did I but then I saw Alexa and asked it to play the sound of a dog. Because of that barking sound, the monkeys were scared and ran away," said Nikita, describing the incident.

Nikita's mother Shipra Ojha lauded her daughter's presence of mind. She said that Nikita's swift action saved both the girls from the monkey attack.
