US expels Indian student: 19-year-old facing deportation for faking college documents says report

A 19-year-old Indian student in the US has reportedly been expelled and will be deported to India for submitting fake college application and documents.

According to an India Today report on June 28, 2024, the student whose identity has not been revealed, even faked his father’s death to secure a full scholarship at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

The first-year student’s admission was revoked after a Reddit user exposed the fraud in a post. The Indian student in the US has confessed to falsifying transcripts and financial documents, as part of his scheme. He was initially arrested after he pleaded guilty to forgery on June 12.
