Banda (UP), May 27 (PTI) - A tragic incident occurred in the Sadar Kotwali area of Lalitpur district, where a 56-year-old sub-inspector lost his life after being struck by an unidentified vehicle, according to a statement from the police on Tuesday.

The victim, Sub-Inspector Jitendra Singh Parihar, was the officer in charge of the Birdha police outpost, as confirmed by Lalitpur's Superintendent of Police (SP), Md Mushtaque.

SP Mushtaque reported that Parihar was out on patrol on his motorcycle on Monday night.

The following morning, his lifeless and bloodied body was discovered near an under-construction bridge close to Khadera village, with his motorcycle, helmet, and service revolver lying nearby.

Preliminary findings suggest that the sub-inspector's death was the result of a collision with an unknown vehicle.
