Lucknow, June 16 (PTI): The Special Task Force (STF) of the Uttar Pradesh Police has detained an individual accused of defrauding people through fraudulent land registrations by enticing them with attractive offers in the Mohanlalganj area of Lucknow, authorities revealed on Monday.
According to an official announcement from the STF, the apprehended individual has been identified as Pramod Kumar Upadhyay, originally from Ballia district, and presently residing in the PGI police station vicinity in Lucknow.
Upadhyay was taken into custody on Sunday evening, subsequent to numerous complaints lodged against him. The STF disclosed that he, using a company called Info Vision Private Limited, ensnared victims with tempting land deals and executed fraudulent land transactions. Over a dozen criminal charges have been filed against him.
During questioning, Upadhyay purportedly informed the STF that the company was initially founded by his elder brother, Vinod Kumar Upadhyay, and their father. He served as an authorized representative of the enterprise, actively engaging in the buying and selling of plots. The trio is accused of targeting unsuspecting individuals with attractive offers, inducing them into land purchases, and then defrauding them, as per the statement.
After the fraudulent activities were exposed, the accused allegedly attempted to deceive the victims with misleading assurances.
The STF reported that approximately 15 cases, encompassing charges of fraud and criminal intimidation, have been instituted against him at the Mohanlalganj police station.
The accused has now been transferred to Mohanlalganj police in relation to one of the registered FIRs, and additional legal actions are in progress, the statement concluded.
